Alex was born April 6th 1996 in Sydney Australia to parents Rad and Ljiljana Vukic as well as older brother Vladimir Vukic during a period of unrest in Yugoslavia which led up to Alex’s birth. They all immigrated there during this turbulent time.

The family was living in Sarajevo, the center of the conflict, when Rad, disguised as part of another family, fled on an SOS plane. Men over 18 years old were forced to join the army, prompting Ljiljana and Vladimir to leave earlier, seeking refuge in Sydney. Their sacrifice and determination laid the foundation for Alex’s future success.
Rad’s Discovery of Tennis: The Beginning of Aleksandar Vukic’s Career
Upon their arrival in Australia, Rad discovered his passion for tennis. Despite being refugees with only $1000 to their name, the family thrived, and both parents became successful computer engineers. Rad introduced Alex to tennis, starting him on the path to professional success.

As a child, Aleksandar participated in various sports like football, tennis, volleyball, and rugby. Yet, it was tennis that captured his interest the most. Alex shared in an interview that he used to chase after his dad and brother, collecting balls while they played.

He further demonstrated his talent by reaching the final of the 2023 Open de Oeiras II, a Challenger event, debuting at the 95th position in the world on May 22, 2023.

Aleksandar’s older brother Vladimir, who is six years older, also played tennis, starting when he was ten. Despite severe asthma, Vladimir remained active and supported his brother by attending his tennis matches. Currently, he works in a private equity firm.
