This article guides Canvas administrators through the integration of Canvas LTI with Foundations curriculum. This allows teachers and students to have Single Sign-On (SSO), and the ability to create individual student accounts and classes.
What you’ll need
- Paid subscription to at least one Foundations course (i.e. Foundations of Personal Finance for High Schools, Funds in Entrepreneurship etc.
- Access to Canvas for Teachers
- Your school’s unique consumer key and secret
- XML Code to your Curriculum Subscription
- Account for active teachers
FoundationsDigital allows you to retrieve your LTI parameters
To generate or retrieve the school’s consumer key, secret, and curriculum’s XML, the teacher must first log in to RamseyClassroom.com. These can be found in the menu at the top right of your name. Next, click Connect to My LMS and then generate the parameters.
Canvas setup for teachers
- In Canvas, click Courses. Next, choose a course.
- Click Settings.
- Click External Tools .
- Assemble the following fields:
- Title Any name you’d like to use in the app
- URL:Retrieved via the Account Settings at RamseyClassroom
- Consumer Key Retrieved at the Account Settings page RamseyClassroom
- Shared Secret Retrieved at RamseyClassroom Account Settings
- Custom Parameters Leave Blank
Click Submit.
5. The new link appears under Materials. The link may not appear immediately after you refresh your browser. Your Foundations class will appear the first time you click this link.
