More than seven years after Houston’s passing, Crawford’s first debut memoir, “A Song for You,” is released, and the public debate over who is to blame for Houston’s passing has long since subsided. Crawford, who produced the audiobook version, held off on speaking until everyone else had finished.

Despite his reluctance to openly acknowledge their relationship, he contacted her on the day of her nuptials to provide her sound counsel that not even Crawford dared do.
Brown, a shady, perpetually resentful character who mistreats Houston physically and emotionally and has an extramarital affair while they are still dating, is a bad influence throughout the entire book. According to Crawford, everything “he put his hands on ended up in ruins,” including Houston’s self-esteem.
Brown objected to her undue influence on Houston’s life because he didn’t know about his wife’s intimate involvement with Crawford until after their wedding. According to Crawford, she once saw Brown spit in Houston’s face and was concerned for what he might be doing to her in private at the time.
