Is It Time To Replace Your Running Shoes?

The one thing that has been your trustworthy friend through highs and lows is your pair of running shoes. However, at a certain point of time in your life, even your shoes wear out. It then becomes important to have them replaced. But how can one know that it is time to replace it with a new one?

Replace it every 600 miles or so

At the point when your running shoes have covered at least 600 miles, the shock absorber stops working, the cushioning does not give you any more comfort, and it begins affecting the soles of your feet more. In other words, you would have to replace your favorite running shoes every six to eight months. The shoe pair that is minimalistic will, however, have to be replaced faster since they have less cushioning. In cases of obese people, the shoes will last much longer than in cases of lighter people. So, you would need to replace your running shoes accordingly. For instance, if you had purchased a pair of Nike Dunk Low before, the same rules as other shoes will apply to this, too, when it comes to knowing when to replace the pair.

What other factors are to be considered?

Even a casual usage of your running shoes will matter when it comes to finding out whether it is time to swap your old pair of shoes with a new one. Simple things like some stains on your shoes will not count. However, if you find a lot of wear and tear in your shoes, then it is high time to trade them for newer ones. Always be on the lookout for wear and tear, rips, worn-out soles, and more. These are the indications of the need to buy a new pair of running shoes. The same is the case with any indications of discomfort in your heels, feet, etc. Then, you would need to purchase a new pair of shoes and dump the older ones. 

Can you extend the life of your shoes?

Try using two pairs of shoes alternately. It will help you get adjusted to different kinds of shoe designs, thus putting you at an advantage over the others. In fact, it will assist you with cross-training and more. Each time you remove your shoes, make sure you do it properly. In other words, do not try to remove them from the back of your heels. Thus, your shoes will begin to serve you longer. Also, make sure that you use your running shoes only for the purpose of running and jogging. This will also extend the life of your shoes.

How can you tell if it is time?

Even if the life of your shoes has been extended, you would still not be able to easily find out whether they have eventually worn out or not. Only waiting for the signs that they are due to be replaced can tell you whether you have to trade your old pair of running shoes with new ones.
